Zinnwaldite is a brown variety of mica, containing iron and lithium. It occurs in granite pegmatites and greisens, often associated with tin deposits.
It is named after Zinnwald on the border of Germany and the Czech Republic, where it was first discovered.
This is an impressive specimen consisting of lustrous, intergrown, pseudo-hexagonal crystals.
