VERY LARGE SMOKY QUARTZ CRYSTAL GROUP - Cornwall
« backSMOKY QUARTZ CRYSTALS
with fluorite epimorphs
Restowrack China Clay Pit,
near St. Dennis, Cornwall
A large and very fine group of smoky quartz crystals from a Cornish china clay pit. This would make an excellent decorative piece for home or office.
An interesting aspect of this piece is a perfect, square hole which is a the result of the dissolution of a cubic crystal of fluorite. Such a feature is known as an 'epimorph'. The underside of the piece also displays what appear to be modified fluorite epimorphs.
The crystals have minor damage on the terminations but otherwise this is a very good example of Cornish smoky quartz.
