VERY LARGE AMETHYST GEODE
Completely natural geode
Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
A gorgeous amethyst geode from Brazil which is unusual in that it is wider than it is tall. This geode is from an old collection and therefore does not have a painted back or a concrete base, which unfortunately is the fate of most of the large geodes available today.
The amethyst geodes from Brazil were formerly gas bubbles in 130 million year old basalt lava that now forms the giant Paraná lava plateau. These cavities were lined with crystals of amethyst over millions of years.
This geode weighs over 21 kilograms and so it is impractical to send by post. However it can be collected from one of the shows we attend (see above). Alternatively it may be possible to deliver it to an address in Essex or an adjacent county. Please enquire.
