VERTEBRA OF FOSSIL SHARK

50 million years old

London Clay
Isle of Sheppey, Kent

The London Clay was laid down on the floor of a subtropical sea and creatures that lived in this sea have been beautifully preserved as fossils. Collectors have been finding fossils in the cliff
s on the north coast of the Isle of Sheppey for over 200 years.

This vertebra of an extinct shark is from an old collection and has a tiny historic numbered label. It may have been collected as long ago as the nineteenth century.

It is presented in a vintage hinged plastic display box.
