TRILOBITE

Angelina sedgwicki

480 million years old

(Ordovician period - Tremadoc slates)

Porthmadog, Gwynedd, North Wales

Angelina sedgwicki is named after the nineteenth century geologist Adam Sedgwick.

It occurs in the Ordovician slates of North Wales and is famous because the specimens are usually distorted and stretched as a result of tectonic stresses as the slate was partially metamorphosed.

This specimen is a large example and is complete. However, it straddles a fault plane and has therefore been repaired.
