THE ROCKS OF SARK,
CHANNEL ISLANDS
An introduction to the geology
of the island
By Wes Gibbons
(Second hand copy in good condition)
The Channel Islands have little in common with the rocks forming the English coast (which are much younger) but have close similarities with the nearby French mainland.
The island of Sark is formed entirely of very old, banded rocks (gneisses) and granite. This comprehensive and very informative booklet explains what the rocks are, how they were formed and how old they are.
Half the book contains field excursions and there are chapters on various aspects of the geology, including mineral collecting and the Sark silver mines.
Published by Manche Technical Supplies (Jersey). 1975. Softback booklet. 75 pages. Second hand copy in good condition.
