THE OLD METAL MINES OF MID-WALES

Parts 1 to 5

(Second hand copies in very good condition)

By David E. Bick

Mining for metals in Wales began nearly 4,000 years ago. The industry rose to a peak in the 1870s and has produced over 600,000 tons of lead and zinc alone. David Bick's detailed survey of the metal mines of Mid-Wales is a classic work of industrial archaeology. Numerous remains of these disused mines remain on the mountains of Mid-Wales and this is an authoritative guide.

Part 1. Cardiganshire - South of Devil's Bridge (1976)
Part 2. Cardiganshire - The Rheidol to Goginan (1983)
Part 3. Cardiganshire - North of Goginan (1976)
Part 4. West Montgomeryshire (1977)
Part 5. Aberdovey, Dinas Mawddwy and Llangynog (1978)

This is a complete set. However, in the late 1980s the author decided that sufficient new material had turned up to run to a sixth part which is called The Old Metal Mines of Mid-Wales: A Miscellany.

Published by The Pound House. Soft covers. Between 50 and 70 pages each. Black and white photos, maps and illustrations. Very good condition.
