THE MINE UNDER THE SEA

By Jack Penhale

(Second hand copy in good condition) (1962)

This little book is about the great Levant Mine in Cornwall, whose levels extend under the Atlantic Ocean.

It is written by a former miner at Levant, and tells the story of life in a Cornish mine in the early twentieth century.

Levant Mine is now a National Trust property. Its main attraction is that it has the world's only Cornish beam engine still operated by steam on its original site.

Published by J.H. Lake and Co. Ltd. 1962. Black and white photographs. Softback. 67 pages. Slightly grubby cover but book in good condition. Handwritten dedication on flyleaf.
