THE GEOLOGICAL MAP:

AN ANATOMY OF THE LANDSCAPE

By Eric Edmonds

(Softback)

(Second hand copy in fair condition)

Geology is the story of the natural landscape, and the geological map is the quintessence of geology. At first glance it provides a picture of the land beneath the soil, but with some extra consideration it will yield a three-dimensional view of the structure of the uppermost crust of the Earth, and the relationship of one rock to another. Geological maps are also beautiful things, often richly coloured and complex.

This little booklet was published by British Geological Survey (then called the Institute of Geological Sciences) in 1983. It's a useful guide to geological maps, how they’re made and what they mean, and packed with colour maps and geological sections.

The copies we have are second hand, in fair condition and slightly worn, but perfectly usable. Some have the previous owner’s name on the first page.

Softback. 36 pages. Published by HMSO. 1983. Fair condition.
