THE ALDERLEY EDGE MINES

(Second hand copy in very good condition)

By Chris J. Carlon

Alderley Edge is a famous ridge of high ground in Cheshire, rising prominently from the surrounding plains. It is riddled with tunnels and shafts of the mine workings that exploited ores such as copper and lead for hundreds of years. The orebodies are of a type unique in Britain.

This useful little book describes the mines and their history, with numerous maps and diagrams and appendices of the minerals.

Published by John Sherratt and Son. 1979. Soft cover. 144 pages. Black and white photos and diagrams throughout. Second hand copy in very good condition.
