Returns
You have the right to return goods purchased on this website in accordance with UK law. You may therefore cancel your order and return the goods within 14 days for a full refund, including the cost of delivery to you. However, before doing so you must contact us by email or telephone informing us of your decision to withdraw from the purchase and quoting the order number and/or details of the order supplied to you. Precautions to be taken with specimens
The items for sale on this website are not toys and are not suitable for children under the age of three years. Some items may contain small parts. They should not be put in the mouth. You should always treat mineral specimens with care. Further information on individual mineral species can be obtained from the Mindat website using the search field: https://www.mindat.org
Restoration and repair
It is common for fossils, particularly fossil bones, to be collected in several pieces and therefore have to be repaired. It is completely acceptable, therefore for fossils to be sold as two or more pieces that have been glued together. Where we are aware of this it will be stated in the description. Minor restoration is also acceptable, usually in the form of small cracks being infilled with a filler matching the colour of the rock or fossil. Again, this is referred to in the item description where appropriate. Almost all museum specimens have been restored to some degree.
Major restoration is a different matter, as are 'composite' specimens where fossils or parts of fossils have been reassembled in positions where they do not belong, usually to make a more attractive display piece. If a specimen has been subject to major restoration or is a composite this will always be mentioned in the description so that customers can make an informed decision whether to purchase. Such a specimen may still be aesthetically pleasing although of much less scientific value.
