Beautiful amber-coloured crystals of selenite from the gypsum quarries near Paris.
Selenite is the name given to the crystallised variety of gypsum (calcium sulphate). These naturally twinned crystals have been called ‘Swallow-tail’ crystals.
Selenite has perfect cleavage, enabling the crystals to be easily split into very thin plates.
