Portway Mine, Dirtlow Rake, near Castleton, Derbyshire
 
Stalactitic barite from Dirtlow Rake, near Castleton is an attractive form of barite that was discovered many years ago and has found its way into collections nationwide.
  
It is characterised by a central core of radiating crystals of pale, greyish-blue barite surrounded by banded tan and cream coloured barite.
  
These three pieces have each been cut and polished on one face.
