A fine example of stalactitic barite from Dirtlow Rake, near Castleton. This highly attractive form of barite was discovered many years ago and has found its way into collections nationwide.
The central core is composed of radiating crystals of pale, greyish-blue barite and this is surrounded by banded tan and cream coloured barite. It has been cut and polished on one face with the reverse a rounded end of barite crystals.
A plastic stand is included.
