Beautiful sparkling 'specular' (mirror-like) hematite crystals lining cavities in hematite ore. Perched on the hematite crystals are translucent quartz crystals.
This specimen is from the classic iron-mining area of west Cumbria, on the edge of the English Lake District. Mineral specimens from these mines can be found in museum collections throughout the world.
