SMOKY QUARTZ CRYSTAL

An attractive single crystal of transparent smoky quartz from a cleft in the Alpine rocks. Some damage to the crystal termination but this doesn't detract from what is a classic Alpine quartz crystal.
Crystals of quartz such as this are extracted from lens-like cavities and clefts on steep peaks in the French and Swiss Alps by specialist mineral collectors who are also skilled climbers.
