SET OF TWO ORDNANCE SURVEY 'EXPLORER' MAPS COVERING THE WHOLE OF THE PEAK DISTRICT (WHITE PEAK AND DARK PEAK)

1:25,000 scale or 2.5 inches to 1 mile

Maps OL1 and OL24 (Second hand)

The Peak District of Derbyshire is one of the most beautiful parts of England with its limestone dales (the 'White Peak') and its gritstone moors and hills (the 'Dark Peak').

These two spectacular maps cover the entire area at a large scale and are essential for walking and exploring this area which is famous for its minerals and its fossils.

The minerals occur in ore bodies which have been mined for thousands of years and the landscape is rich in the remains of disused mines. Known as the South Pennine Orefield about 100 different minerals have been recorded here, the most common being fluorite, barite, galena and calcite.

Published by the Ordnance Survey (2002). Good condition. New maps currently retail at £8.99 each.
