Seraphinite is a variety of the mineral clinochlore, a member of the chlorite group of minerals. It is an attractive gemstone with a ‘feathery’ appearance.
It is mined from the Korshunovskoye iron deposit in the Eastern Siberia.
The stone has a remarkable optical quality called ‘chatoyancy’, where light is reflected in a particular way due to its fibrous structure.
