SELENITE CRYSTAL

Selenite is a transparent variety of gypsum. The crystals naturally grow in clay as a result of a chemical reaction between the calcium of fossil shells and the sulphur from iron pyrite.
This delightful crystal was collected from Oxford Clay exposed during road works.
