TRANSPARENT SELENITE
CRYSTAL (PERFECTLY CLEAVED INTO TWO PIECES)

Wendlebury, Oxfordshire

Selenite is a transparent variety of gypsum.
The crystals naturally grow in clay as a result of a chemical reaction between the calcium of fossil shells and the sulphur from iron pyrite.

This delightful crystal was collected from the Oxford Clay exposed during road works. It has been perfectly cleaved into two gorgeous transparent pieces.
