The sandstone escarpment of Alderley Edge has been mined for copper since the Bronze Age and is the oldest metal mining site in England.
  
This is a sample of Triassic sandstone which has been infused with green and blue copper minerals such as malachite and azurite. 
  
An unusual and colourful specimen!
