« backRUBY CRYSTALS IN ZOISITE
Mount Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania
One of the world’s most striking rocks consists of red ruby crystals in green zoisite with varying amounts of the black mineral pargasite. It comes from Longido, near Mount Kilimanjaro and is called ‘anyolite’ after the local Masai word for green.
The rubies are not gem quality but their colour provides a stunning contrast to the zoisite.
