ROYAL MAIL DINOSAURS FIRST DAY COVER (1991)
Marking the 150th anniversary of the coining of the name dinosaur by Richard Owen
(second hand item in very good condition) (with information card)
In 1991 the Royal Mail issued a set of special stamps to mark the 150th anniversary of Richard Owen's lecture to the British Association for the Advancement of Science in July 1841 when he first coined the name dinosaur.
Dinosaurs had been discovered centuries earlier, but it took the genius of Owen to unlock the mysteries of these early finds, which mainly consisted of odd teeth and bones.
This first day cover has been issued and stamped by the Natural History Museum, London.
