Rhodochrosite is a highly attractive manganese mineral. Old silver mines in Argentina produce a banded or ‘stalactitic’ variety with rose-coloured layers.
Rhodochrosite was highly prized by the Incas and it is sometimes called ‘Inca Rose’.
This is a good specimen that displays well. It has one cut and polished face .
