« backRHODOCHROSITE
Very thin slice of rhodochrosite in glass display box
Catamarca Province, Argentina
Rhodochrosite is a highly attractive manganese mineral. Old silver mines in Argentina produce a banded or ‘stalactitic’ variety with rose-coloured layers.
Rhodochrosite was highly prized by the Incas and it is sometimes called ‘Inca Rose’.
This specimen is a very thin unpolished slice displayed in a glass gemstone box.
