A brachiopod from the famous Hunstanton Red Chalk. A lovely little specimen from an old collection. Still attached to the rock in which it was found.
Brachiopods are marine animals that look like small clams, but they have a different anatomy and are not closely related to clams or any other molluscs. They lived on the sea floor and were much more abundant during the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic eras than they are today.
Th specimen are from an old collection.
