RASPBERRY GARNETS
Sierra de Cruces, Coahuila, Mexico
First discovered in the late 1990s, these famous red grossular garnets can now be found in many museum collections. Grossular is a calcium-aluminium species of the garnet group of minerals.
Their colour has led to them being called raspberry garnets.
This specimen consists of small garnets scattered throughout quartz matrix, with several well formed crystals. It has a cut base so it displays well.
