QUARTZ GEODE
Sidi Rahal region, near Marrakesh, Morocco
A round nodule which, when broken open, reveals beautiful sparkling crystals of quartz. Hollow nodules like these are known as geodes.
This highly attractive geode from Morocco is a great decorative item. The crystals are very slightly amethyst in colour.
These geodes were formed by quartz crystals lining cavities which were originally gas bubbles in volcanic lava.
