Sparkling quartz crystals from a cavity in hematite.
Hematite is a valuable ore of iron. This specimen is from the classic iron-mining area of west Cumbria, on the edge of the English Lake District. Mineral specimens from these mines can be found in museum collections throughout the world.
A nice little specimen. The back has been cut flat with a diamond saw.
