POLISHED QUARTZ 'LENS'

A piece of transparent quartz (rock crystal) that has been polished into a round shape but leaving one side rough. This technique allows the inside of the original rough surface to be viewed through the quartz, giving the appearance of a lens.
Pieces of quartz that are polished in this way are sometimes called ‘garden quartz’ when inclusions of the green mineral chlorite can produce the effect of viewing a tiny garden.
