PART OF A FOSSIL CORAL REEF
Polished 'palm stone'

350 million years old

Assa Zag, Morocco

This highly attractive rock consists of a fossilised colonial coral known as Hexagonaria from rocks of Devonian age at Assa Zag, Morocco. Polished both sides.  Hexagonaria was a common constituent of coral reefs in the Devonian period.

Specimens of corals are commonly available from Morocco but this example has been specially selected for its beauty and the detail on the polished surface.
