A cut and polished cobble of limestone packed with fossil corals.
This fossil is part of a coral reef that existed in a tropical sea that covered England during the Carboniferous period when Britain was situated on the equator.
From the Carboniferous Limestone of Northumberland. It is derived from the boulder clay and was brought south to Yorkshire by an ice sheet during the Ice Age.
