This fossil is part of a coral reef that existed in a tropical sea that covered England during the Carboniferous period when Britain was situated on the equator. It is from the Carboniferous Limestone of Northumberland.
This fossil is part of a coral reef that existed in a tropical sea that covered England during the Carboniferous period when Britain was situated on the equator. It is from the Carboniferous Limestone of Northumberland.
It was recovered from the beach at Holderness and is derived from the boulder clay. It originates in Northumberland and was brought south to Yorkshire by an ice sheet.
It is polished on all six sides and presented in a lidded gift box. It would make a great paperweight!
