This highly attractive rock consists of a fossilised colonial coral known as Hexagonaria from rocks of Devonian age at Assa Zag, Morocco.  The surface has been polished.  Hexagonaria was a common constituent of coral reefs in the Devonian period.

Specimens of corals are commonly available from Morocco but this example has been specially selected for its colour and pattern.
