A beautiful polished slab of limestone packed with fossil corals. The white patch is a cavity that has been filled with calcite crystals.


This fossil is part of a coral reef that existed in a tropical sea that covered England and Ireland during the Carboniferous period when Britain was situated on the equator.  It is from the Carboniferous Limestone.
