Calcite is a common mineral and can be found in many colours but the orange calcite from Mexico is perhaps the most attractive.
It has been polished by being immersed in acid and then thoroughly washed. This method brings out the natural orange colour particularly well.
Calcite is the main constituent of many rocks such as limestone and marble. It also occurs in caves as stalactites and stalagmites.
