OHIO FLINT - Ohio, USA
« backFlint Ridge, Licking County, Ohio, USA
Like the flint of the Chalk of Southern England, the flint in Ohio occurs as nodules, or sheet-like deposits within marine limestones. In England, the limestone is Cretaceous Chalk, but in Ohio the limestones are of Carboniferous age.
The most famous flint deposit in Ohio is Flint Ridge, in Licking County. Here the flint occurs in a variety of colours and can also be banded.
