Cut and polished slab
Moss agate is a semi-precious gemstone consisting of quartz with inclusions. It is a form of chalcedony and the inclusions form filaments and other patterns suggestive of moss. The inclusions are mainly oxides of manganese or iron. It is not a true form of agate, because it does not have concentric banding.
This slab is polished on both sides and is a deep green colour. Under a strong light the filaments of 'moss' can be clearly seen. One one side is a small cavity lined with sparkling quartz crystals.
