MOOKAITE (POLISHED SLICE) - Western Australia
« backMOOKAITE
Polished slice
Mooka Creek, Kennedy Range,
Western Australia
An attractive little slice of mookaite, polished one side. Presented in a lidded gift box
The gemstone Mookaite is named after the site in Australia where it occurs. It is often referred to as a variety of jasper but it is actually a siltstone of Cretaceous age that has been turned into quartz (silica), and is technically known as a ‘porcelanite’ from its resemblance to unglazed porcelain.
