MAMMOTH LEG BONE

About 20,000 years old

Dredged from the North Sea, off Clacton, Essex

A piece of mammoth leg bone
dredged from a gravel bank about 6 miles off the Essex coast by an Essex aggregate company.

During the coldest periods of the Ice Age the North Sea was dry land and occupied by herds of large mammals.
