Dredged from the North Sea, off Clacton, Essex

A piece of mammoth bone dredged from a gravel bank about 6 miles off the Essex coast by an Essex aggregate company.​​​​​​​

During the coldest periods of the Ice Age the North Sea was dry land and occupied by herds of large mammals.
