BOTRYOIDAL MALACHITE
AND CHRYSOCOLLA
Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa
Malachite, a copper carbonate, is usually a green, banded semi-precious gemstone. This specimen is of the fibrous variety and exhibits a wonderful 'botryoidal' (grape-like) form with a coating of turquoise-coloured chrysocolla.
Malachite and chrysocolla are ores of copper.
This is a really attractive specimen on both sides.
