LUXULLIANITE
Cut and polished slab

One of Britain’s rarest and most attractive rocks

280 million years old

Luxulyan, near St. Austell, Cornwall

Luxullianite is only found in one place in the world: the village of Luxulyan in Cornwall, after which the rock has been named. It is a very distinctive and handsome rock with a brilliant name.

Luxullianite is actually a variety of granite, with pink orthoclase feldspar crystals intermingled with black tourmaline and white quartz. The Duke of Wellington’s sarcophagus in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London is made of luxullianite.

This is a superb large display piece. Polished on both sides and presented in a foam-lined lidded gift box.
