LIFE AND WORK OF THE NORTHERN LEAD MINER

By Arthur Raistrick and Arthur Roberts

(Hardback with dust jacket) (Second hand copy in 'as new' condition)

The two hundred photographs in this book provide a superb study of lead mining between 1850 and 1950, and in particular of the period 1860 to 1910, when most of the photographs were taken.

This history of the lead mining industry concentrates on the North Pennines, the western flank of the Cross Fell range, Greenside Mine in the Lake District, and North Yorkshire.  The book opens with an eight page introduction which provides essential background for the photographic record. There is also a comprehensive index.

Hardback with dust jacket. 115 pages. Published by Alan Sutton and Beamish Open Air Museum. 1990. 'As new' condition.
