LEPIDOLITE (MICA) CRYSTAL - Brazil
« backLEPIDOLITE MICA
Part of a natural crystal
Aracuai, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Lepidolite is a lithium-bearing variety of mica. Like all micas it splits into thin, flexible sheets and it is difficult to believe that it is a natural mineral. It is usually lilac-coloured, but not always.
It transmits light along the plane of the mica sheets but much less so across them.
