During the Eocene period the part of France known as the Paris Basin was submerged beneath a warm, subtropical sea containing sharks and many types of shellfish. On the eastern edge of this basin is Epernay, in the Champagne region, where these creatures have been preserved in a sandy marl.
This is a nice example.
