Bracklesham Beds. Bracklesham, Sussex
This beautifully preserved shell of a marine mollusc resembles a modern shell but is a genuine fossil.
It was found on the foreshore at Bracklesham Bay, Sussex, in clays called the Bracklesham Beds that were laid down under the sea in the Upper Eocene period when the climate was warmer than today.
This fossil is from an old collection and was collected in the 1980s.
