This book is a field guide to 18 selected geological locations in the Lake District, varying from easy half-day walks to full-day outings, sometimes in mountainous terrain. All the main geological features of Cumbria are covered, from the oldest Ordovician rocks to the landforms of the Ice Age.

  

The book includes an introduction to Lake District geology and numerous maps. The authors are members and friends of the Cumberland Geological Society.

   

There is a foreword by mountaineer Chris Bonington, who lives in the Lake District.
