LABRADORITE
Madagascar
Labradorite is a variety of the mineral feldspar that is commonly used as a gemstone.
It shows a remarkable iridescent play of colours known as ‘schiller’, caused by light diffraction within the crystal. It is named after the occurrence of the mineral in Labrador, Canada. A variety found in Finland is known as spectrolite.
This example is polished on all sides.
