LABRADORITE
Madagascar
Labradorite is a variety of the mineral feldspar that is commonly used as a gemstone.
It shows a remarkable iridescent play of colours known as ‘schiller’, caused by light diffraction within the crystal. It is named after the occurrence of the mineral in Labrador, Canada.
This is a large, hand-polished labradorite 'pebble', carved into a pleasing oval palm stone shape. There are some minor chips and marks but these do not distract from its beauty.
Size: 9.5 x 7.5 x 2.5 centimetres
Weight: 398 grams
